The Forest Fire 2015

In the spring of 2015, crops were not all seeded yet, everything was dry when a dreadful forest fire had started just north of the river, The fire burned hot and turned the tall trees that once stood proud clothed in deep green needles and soft tender greens of spring, the tender lush new green growth of the forest floor, now a deathly, ugly black. This once beautiful forest where the wild animals and birds had free reign to raise their young. It was quiet here today as there was no longer the sound of the whispering breeze in the treetops, no little birds chirping and I am sad!
Then on July 30th, I went back to take some photos and here they are.

Now as you can see by my photos, there has been a change in the forest though tall trees still stand charred with black, the forest floor gave way to a new birth, The transformation looks awesome and it brought a huge smile to my once saddened face, the forest floor is now covered in lush, new green growth with stately Fireweed in purple masses,Spreading Dogbane with many tiny pink blossoms, golden flowers of Canadian Thistle, Tall Bluebells, beautiful Purple Asters and soft lilac colored Fleebane, Common Yarrow with their cluster of tiny white blossoms, Pigweed now gone to seed and little poplar trees with large new green leaves and they already stand two feet tall so in spite of how sad I felt I stand here and smile, the forest will be okay once again.

So you see, in spite of it all I will keep smiling, I'll take time to smell the flowers and enjoy their sweet perfume and perhaps one day I'll stand and listen to the soft breeze in the treetops and watch the birds flitting from tree to tree and the bees will be humming in the Fireweed and the butterflies will be dancing from blossom to blossom in the mid day sun and all will be beautiful.
